Sweet Unsavory, a diorama

Sweet Unsavory, a diorama
plexiglass, ants, some dirt, candy candy candy

A diorama of Candy Land, a gluttonous sugar-craving child’s Heaven.  The rub – gluttons don’t go to Heaven.  This is Hell, and here, everything you desire, you are punished for desiring.  Here, Candy Land might be 3d and made of actual candy, but it is also infested with ants, combining the imagined pleasure of a world of sweets with the revulsion of observing hundreds of ants consuming it in a thoughtless swarm.

This edible model of Candy Land includes candy landmarks like the Licorice Woods, Peanut Brittle House, Peppermint Toadstool Forrest, Gumdrop Fields, Tollhouse Topiary Garden, Wafer Castle, and Mellow Marshlands.

A departure from the playful dioramas of earlier, this one is meant to challenge to your gag reflex.  Images will reflect change over the week of installation.

Created for the Inferno: Fashion Mixer & Art Exhibit & Installation; Space Gallery / 1141 Polk Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
